Manchester United legend Gary Pallister recently expressed his desire for the club to sign Alexander Isak, a player who is also being targeted by Liverpool. Pallister believes that Isak, who currently plays for Newcastle United, would be a better fit for Manchester United than their current targets Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen.
In an interview with METRO, Pallister emphasized Isak’s experience in the Premier League, stating that the Swedish striker is a proven goalscorer who could help Manchester United improve their attacking prowess. He mentioned, “Alexander Isak. He’s the player that is proven in the Premier League. Listen I’m sure he’s got teams in better state than United at the moment who would be in to sign him and Liverpool have reportedly declared interest in him so why wouldn’t you go there when they’ve been as successful as they have been?”
Pallister further explained, “But Isak would be the ideal Man United signing for me. I think it so important that you’re proven in the Premier League because it’s different to all the other leagues out there. If you’ve got a player who’s been there and done it, he would be the man for me. Manchester United definitely need a goalscorer.”
While Liverpool has shown interest in Isak, Newcastle United has set a hefty price tag of £200 million to deter potential suitors, as they aim to retain their star player following their qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
On the other hand, Pallister expressed doubts about Manchester United’s other targets. He admitted to not having seen much of Victor Osimhen and questioned how the Nigerian striker would adapt to the Premier League. Regarding Gyokeres, Pallister acknowledged the player’s success in the Championship and at Sporting CP but raised concerns about his readiness for the rigors of the Premier League.
In a surprising development, Gyokeres has informed Sporting CP of his desire to leave the club this summer, attracting interest from both Manchester United and Arsenal.
As the transfer window heats up, it remains to be seen if Manchester United will heed Pallister’s advice and make a move for Alexander Isak to bolster their attacking options. The club’s pursuit of the Swedish striker could potentially reshape their forward line and provide the goalscoring threat they desperately need in the upcoming season.
