Sarah Michelle Gellar, best known for her role as Buffy in the iconic 1997 series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” is excited about the upcoming reboot of the show. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair Italia, Gellar expressed her hopes for a serious revival of the beloved series.
Gellar revealed that she is eager to see a massive “Buffy” reunion in the reboot, bringing back all the characters from the past, even those who perished in the original series. She mentioned that the new version of the show will be lighter than the last few seasons of the original, striking a balance between old and new characters. Gellar’s dream is to resurrect everyone who died in the original series while also making room for new stories.
The reboot of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” was announced earlier this year, with Hulu nearing a pilot order for the sequel series. In May, it was confirmed that Ryan Kiera Armstrong would be the series lead, with Gellar set to star in the pilot and continue in a recurring role as Buffy.
Gellar was full of praise for Armstrong, stating that she knew the young actress was the perfect fit for the role as soon as she saw her audition. She commended Armstrong for her emotional intelligence and talent at such a young age, describing it as a true gift.
The reboot will be written, showrun, and executive produced by Nora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckerman. Gellar will also serve as an executive producer, alongside Gail Berman. Fran Kuzui and Kaz Kuzui will executive produce under the Suite B banner, with Dolly Parton executive producing under Sandollar. 20th Television and Searchlight Television are on board as producers, with Berman, the Kuzuis, and Parton all having executive produced the original “Buffy” series.
