A former CIA officer, Brian Jeffrey Raymond, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for drugging and sexually abusing multiple women in different countries over a 14-year period. The 48-year-old pleaded guilty to four out of 25 counts, including sexual abuse, coercion, and transportation of obscene material. He admitted to drugging and creating explicit material of 28 women without their consent, some of whom were groped and assaulted while unconscious.

During his sentencing, US Senior Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly described Raymond as a sexual predator who betrayed his government and country. The disgraced officer, who served in the CIA for over 20 years, was on assignment in Mexico, Peru, and other undisclosed locations between 2006 and 2020. He targeted women through dating apps or casual encounters, even exploiting some women he had known as friends for nearly two decades.

Raymond would drug unsuspecting women in his government-leased housing, strip them, sexually abuse them, and take photos of the assaults. Several victims, identified by numbers in court, shared the traumatic impact of his actions during the sentencing. Some women only discovered they had been assaulted after the FBI showed them the disturbing images. One victim described feeling like a corpse in the photos, while others suffered from recurring nightmares and nervous breakdowns.

The ex-CIA officer’s crimes came to light in May 2020 when Mexican police responded to a naked woman screaming for help from Raymond’s apartment balcony. He fled back to the US as investigators uncovered his extensive collection of incriminating images and videos. Despite attempting to delete the evidence, over 500 images of his crimes were recovered. Raymond was arrested in San Diego in October 2020 and has been held without bail in a DC jail since then.

During his sentencing, Raymond expressed remorse and took full responsibility for his actions, acknowledging the profound impact on his victims. He has been ordered to pay $10,000 to each of the 28 identified victims and will register as a sex offender. The CIA has condemned his actions, emphasizing their commitment to cooperating with law enforcement in such cases.
