Netflix Renews “Bet” for a Second Season

Netflix has officially announced the renewal of “Bet,” a live-action series based on the popular Japanese manga “Kakegurui,” for a second season. The decision comes after the show’s impressive global performance, which saw it dominating international viewing charts.

The boarding school gambling drama quickly rose to popularity, spending three consecutive weeks in Netflix’s global Top 10 for English-language series. This success solidified its international appeal, as subscribers worldwide embraced the high-stakes teen drama.

Set in the prestigious St. Dominic’s academy, the series follows elite teens from around the world who compete for enrollment through underground gambling. The high-stakes environment creates a cutthroat atmosphere where students’ betting skills determine their social standing.

The first season introduces viewers to Yumeko (played by Miku Martineau), a talented gambler with a mysterious past. Her quest for revenge and exceptional betting abilities threaten to disrupt the school’s power structure. Martineau leads an ensemble cast that includes Ayo Solanke, Eve Edwards, Clara Alexandrova, and others.

Director and showrunner Simon Barry expressed his excitement about the renewal, stating, “I’m extremely happy for our amazing ‘Bet’ fans from all over the world, who get to enjoy another season, and for this incredible cast and crew to return to St. Dominic’s for more gambling and general madness.”

“Bet” is based on the popular manga series “Kakegurui,” created by Homura Kawamoto and Tōru Naomura. The manga, which debuted in 2014, has garnered a dedicated fanbase with 18 volumes released to date.

Executive producers Jeff F. King, David Fortier, Ivan Schneeberg, Jon Rutherford, and Nick Nantell, along with Simon Barry, oversee the production of the series, with Boat Rocker serving as the production company.
