Representative Al Green (D-TX) is ramping up the heat on Donald Trump regarding his controversial dealings with Iran.
On Wednesday, Rep. Green took to the House floor to issue a stark warning to the President.
Green proclaimed:
Mr. Speaker, I rise today with an important message, a cautionary note for the world’s most powerful individual. It has come to my attention that discussions are underway regarding a potential military engagement with Iran. It seems the previous efforts were deemed insufficient.
While I refrain from commenting on whether such action is warranted, I must draw attention to our Constitution. I urge the President: should you choose to re-engage in Iran without seeking the consent of Congress or duly notifying it, I will be compelled to introduce articles of impeachment against you.
Mr. President, it is vital that no single person should possess the unilateral authority to involve over 300 million Americans in warfare. This process must involve Congress. The message is clear: you either uphold the Constitution of the United States or prepare to face my actions.
