Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Mix Flip 2, a sleek and powerful new flip phone that is set to take on the competition. With a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor under the hood and a massive 5,165mAh battery, the Mix Flip 2 is aiming to outshine the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 from Samsung, which is scheduled to launch on 9 July. However, unlike Samsung’s offering, the Mix Flip 2 will initially be released in China, with no confirmation yet on a global launch.
One standout feature of the Mix Flip 2 is its impressive 5,165mAh battery capacity, which surpasses the capacities of its rivals. For comparison, the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra has a 4,700mAh battery, while the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is rumored to come with a 4,300mAh cell. The Mix Flip 2 also boasts fast charging capabilities with 67W wired and 50W wireless charging support.
In terms of performance, the Mix Flip 2 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, coupled with a new dual VC 3D cooling system and either 12GB or 16GB of RAM. Users can choose from storage options of 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB.
The phone features two displays – a 6.86-inch 120Hz AMOLED inner screen with a peak brightness of 3,200 nits, and a 3.5-inch 120Hz AMOLED outer screen. In terms of design, the Mix Flip 2 is slim at 7.57mm and weighs 199g. It comes in four color options: White, Purple, Green, and Checkered Gold.
On the camera front, the Mix Flip 2 is equipped with a 50MP main camera featuring a Light Fusion 800 image sensor and a Leica Summilux optical lens. This is accompanied by a 50MP ultra-wide camera, a departure from the telephoto secondary camera found on the original Mix Flip. There is also a 32MP selfie camera on the front.
As of now, the Mix Flip 2 has only been announced for the Chinese market. When asked about international availability, Xiaomi stated that there are no updates yet for global markets. The starting price for the Mix Flip 2 is 5,999 RMB (approximately £608), but pricing may vary if and when the device is launched in other regions.
