Chicago police have issued a warning to residents following a series of daytime vehicle break-ins and vandalism incidents targeting parked cars along the lakefront in Uptown, Lincoln Park, and Lake View. The incidents involved an unidentified burglar or burglars using an object to shatter side windows of vehicles to gain access and steal property.

According to CPD, the break-ins took place at various locations, including the 5100 block of North Simonds Dr., the 2700 block of North Cannon Dr., and the 200 block of West Montrose Harbor Dr. The incidents occurred at different times throughout the day, with one incident reported on the 3600 block of North Recreation Dr. at 6:20 p.m.

Police have advised residents to refrain from leaving valuables in their vehicles and to report any suspicious activity immediately. They are also urging anyone with information or video footage that could assist with the investigation to contact Area 3 Detectives at (773) 744-8263 or submit an anonymous tip at CPDTIP.com, referencing case number P25-3-031.

It is essential for residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to safeguard their belongings and vehicles. By being proactive and alert, individuals can help prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

As the community bands together to address these crimes, it is crucial to prioritize public safety and work collaboratively with law enforcement to ensure the well-being of all residents. By staying informed and taking necessary precautions, we can create a safer environment for everyone in the neighborhood.

CWBChicago was established in 2013 by a group of residents from Wrigleyville and Boystown who were dissatisfied with the inaccurate information being provided at local Community Policing (CAPS) meetings. The publication has since expanded its coverage area to include Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side areas, with a focus on delivering original public safety reporting with comprehensive context and detail.
