A kitchen fire erupted at El Chingon Bistro in Denver’s Santa Fe Art District on a Friday afternoon, just over a week after the restaurant’s grand opening in the former location of El Noa Noa Mexican Restaurant.
Denver Fire Department responded to the fire at 722 N. Santa Fe Drive around 3 p.m. Smoke was seen coming from the roof, as reported by the agency on social media.
The fire, which started in a kitchen hood and spread to the roof, was brought under control by firefighters by 3:34 p.m. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.
El Chingon Bistro has been serving Mexican cuisine at various locations in metro Denver since 2010, focusing on the culinary artistry of Mexico City, as stated on the restaurant’s website.
The restaurant’s grand opening at the new location took place on June 19. Officials from El Chingon could not be reached for immediate comment.
