A tragic incident unfolded in Pakistan as a massive fire engulfed a bustling shopping mall, claiming the lives of at least six individuals and leaving numerous others injured.

The fire reportedly originated late Saturday night, prompting urgent calls to emergency services about the escalating flames within the premises. By the time responders arrived, the situation had already spiraled out of control, as per Reuters.

According to a Rescue 122 spokesperson, upon their arrival, the fire had already spread from the ground floor to the upper levels, enveloping the entire structure in flames.

Reports indicate that over 1,200 shops within the mall were destroyed by the fire. Tragically, the incident resulted in the loss of six lives and left 22 individuals injured, including several brave firefighters.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a short circuit in one of the shops sparked the devastating fire, as stated by Sindh Inspector General. The mall’s antiquated structure and the presence of flammable materials contributed to the prolonged burning of the inferno.

In response to the crisis, 22 fire brigades and 33 ambulances were dispatched, leading to the fire being approximately 70% contained by Sunday morning.
