The Supreme Court Showdown: Justice Jackson vs. Justice Barrett

In the latest episode of judicial drama, Justice Amy Coney Barrett took a firm stance against Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s dissent during a Supreme Court ruling, asserting:

“We will not dwell on Justice Jackson’s argument, which contradicts over two centuries of precedent and the Constitution itself,” Barrett remarked. “It is noteworthy that while Justice Jackson criticizes an imperial executive, she appears to endorse an imperial judiciary.”

However, the real showstopper came when snippets of Justice Jackson’s dissent began circulating, revealing a phrase that sounded more suited for a viral TikTok than a Supreme Court opinion.

Yes, you read that correctly; she dropped the phrase ‘wait for it’ right in the middle of a serious legal argument.

First time I’ve seen the phrase, “Wait for it” in a SCOTUS ruling.

What is she writing, a judicial dissent, or an article for MSNBC? pic.twitter.com/FO3yQZwSHb

Such an occurrence has left many observers in disbelief.

It’s one thing to have an intellectually unimpressive Supreme Court Justice. But it’s somewhat surprising how unintelligent her clerks appear to be as well.

The social media reaction has been swift and pointed:

The phrase “Wait for it” gives off a TikTok vibe completely unsuited for a SCOTUS opinion. I can imagine her clerking staff encouraging its inclusion, though.

“One of the sharpest legal minds in a generation” -Biden, remarking on Justice Jackson

We are all Amy Coney Barrett today. Good God, how did this person ever make it to the Supreme Court. https://t.co/AT01q1joyY

As it turns out . . . (wait for it) . . . the American people understand that a “woman” is an adult female person.

Full stop.

IYKYK. Seems like there were warning signs. ‍♂ https://t.co/mtAIWorFpf

We are reaping the fruit of GenZ SCOTUS clerks being trained their whole lives to write for clicks. https://t.co/Gvcv5VmX1v

In light of these events, it is no surprise that Justice Barrett and her colleagues approached Jackson’s dissent with skepticism. After all, if one cannot maintain the gravity expected of a Supreme Court Justice, can one truly expect their arguments to be taken seriously?
