In a surprising reemergence, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has voiced his discontent regarding President Trump’s much-touted “Big Beautiful Bill,” which is currently navigating through Congress. Musk’s frustration stems from recent amendments to the bill that have left him less than impressed.

As reported by , the Senate GOP unveiled the comprehensive 940-page reconciliation bill shortly after midnight, featuring significant revisions to the prior draft. This legislation aims to solidify several pivotal policies, including the permanence of Trump-era tax cuts, the elimination of taxes on tips and overtime, stricter border control, and a decisive blow to President Biden’s green energy initiatives.

The most notable alteration involves the Senate’s approach to subsidies for the wind and solar sectors. Initially, the Senate eased the House’s stringent restrictions on energy subsidies, notably relaxing the requirement that projects must commence within 60 days of the bill’s signing and be operational by the end of 2028 to qualify for essential energy tax credits.

Under the new legislative framework, however, these tax credits will now only apply to facilities that begin generating electricity before the close of 2027. Furthermore, a tax is introduced for specific wind and solar projects that become operational post-2027.

This shift came in response to direct lobbying from President Trump, who urged Senate Majority Leader John Thune to impose stricter regulations on what he labeled as economically detrimental energy sources, marking a significant triumph for conservative factions.

If this bill remains unchanged, it could potentially jeopardize hundreds of thousands of jobs and halt numerous projects currently under development.

Musk, clearly irked by the implications of these revisions, expressed his concerns, asserting that the cessation of these subsidies could “destroy millions of jobs” and accused lawmakers of regressive thinking.

“The latest Senate draft bill will destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country!” Musk proclaimed. “Utterly insane and destructive,” he continued. “It gives handouts to industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future.”

In a bid to bolster his argument, Musk shared a poll illustrating widespread public opposition to Trump’s flagship economic initiative, deeming it “political suicide for the Republican Party.”

However, what could indeed spell political demise for the GOP would be heeding Musk’s advice and dismantling the “Big, Beautiful Bill.” Not only would such a move likely alienate the public, but it would also incite the ire of Trump and his fervent supporter base.

In a political landscape where fulfillment of promises is paramount, why would constituents rally behind a party that appears to undermine its own leader?
