President Trump and CBS are currently in advanced settlement talks regarding a lawsuit over a “60 Minutes” interview with Kamala Harris. The attorneys involved in the case informed a judge on Monday that the parties are in negotiations and have requested a stay in all proceedings until July 3, indicating that a settlement may be reached soon.

The lawsuit, brought by Trump against CBS for $20 billion, alleges that the news show edited the interview with Harris in a misleading manner during the campaign last fall. CBS has reportedly offered up to $15 million to settle the case, with their attorneys labeling the lawsuit as a “meritless assault on the First Amendment.”

The parties have previously reported being engaged in active settlement negotiations. Trump and Rep. Ronny Jackson filed suit under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act, citing consumer fraud. They also claim that CBS unfairly competed with Truth Social, Trump’s social network, by airing an edited version of the Harris interview.

Recent reports from The Wall Street Journal indicate that a mediator has proposed a $20 million settlement, with $17 million of that amount going to Trump’s presidential foundation. Trump has also requested an apology as part of the settlement terms.

The ongoing settlement discussions have caused internal upheaval at CBS, leading to the departure of two top executives, Wendy McMahon and Bill Owens. In April, CBS filed a motion to compel discovery related to Trump’s claims, with a deadline for the plaintiffs to respond by June 30. However, both parties are now seeking to suspend all deadlines until at least Thursday.

As negotiations continue, the outcome of the settlement talks between President Trump and CBS remains uncertain. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
