The bullet ricocheted off his necklace and became lodged in the fatty tissue of his chest. Doctors indicated that the necklace absorbed the majority of the bullet’s force, preventing it from penetrating his chest cavity. Without the necklace, the bullet could have compromised his lungs or heart.
