NATO Urges Trump Administration to Resume Weapon Shipments to Ukraine

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte publicly appealed to the Trump administration on Wednesday to reconsider its decision to halt crucial weapons shipments to Ukraine.

“The US always needs to ensure their own interests are protected,” Rutte, also known as the “Trump Whisperer,” told “Fox & Friends.”

He emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine with ammunition and air defense systems, stating that Ukraine currently relies on external support for its defense capabilities.

The White House recently announced the suspension of shipments that included artillery rounds, air defense missiles, and other weapons due to low stockpiles.

Ukraine’s deputy foreign minister, Mariana Betsa, also expressed concern over any delay in supporting Ukraine’s defense capabilities, warning that it could embolden the aggressor, Russia.

As Russia continues its advances in Ukraine, particularly near the city of Pokrovsk, the need for international support for Ukraine’s defense remains critical.

President Trump has been involved in ceasefire negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, with a focus on providing Patriot interceptor missiles to Ukraine.

Following a Pentagon assessment, the decision to halt weapons shipments was made to prioritize America’s interests in military support to other countries.

While Europe has increased its support for Ukraine, Rutte emphasized the need for practical US support to ensure Ukraine’s security and prevent further Russian aggression.

Rutte also reflected on his use of the term “daddy” as a term of endearment for President Trump, recounting a moment where Trump intervened in Israeli-Iranian ceasefire negotiations.

Overall, the call for the resumption of weapons shipments to Ukraine underscores the ongoing conflict in the region and the need for international cooperation to address the situation.
