A TikTok user named Justin Guzman, known for his lip-sync videos on TikTok, surrendered to the Houston Police Department after allegedly shooting and killing Marine veteran Anthony Sanders in a Texas parking lot in front of his infant son and fiancée. During a hearing, Sander’s parents, who are both Army veterans, presented evidence that included a TikTok video posted by Guzman where he danced in front of a news segment covering the shooting, as reported by KHOU KHOU.
“We’re here for justice. Justice for Anthony and also to stand for what he stood for as a person,” said father Frank Sanders. “This was uncalled for.”
The incident occurred on June 3 when Sanders confronted Guzman and his alleged accomplice Marko Cinan in the parking garage of the Galleria Mall after they insulted Sanders’ fiancée in an elevator. According to reports, the situation escalated and ended with Sanders being shot multiple times as his family watched.
After the altercation, Guzman and Cinan were detained by Houston police but later released. Cinan turned himself in on June 25 and was booked into Harris County Jail.
Lawyers for Guzman claimed he acted in self-defense, stating that Sanders had a knife when he confronted them about insulting his fiancée. However, no evidence of Sanders being armed was found at the scene.
Guzman is currently held on $750,000 bond while Cinan, who has a criminal record, is held on $1 million bond, Law and Crime reported.
Both Guzman and Cinan are featured in various TikTok videos on Guzman’s account, which has over 50,000 followers. In some videos, they pretend to hold guns and act out shooting scenes.
