The chaos at Wimbledon 2025 continues as the men’s and women’s singles draws have been heavily impacted by upsets. A total of 23 seeded players were eliminated in the first round, with more following suit in the second round. Despite the turmoil, a few top players have managed to navigate their way through the carnage to reach the third round.

In the men’s singles, top seed Jannik Sinner, defending champion Carlos Alcaraz, Taylor Fritz, and Novak Djokovic have safely progressed. Sinner has yet to drop a set, while Djokovic showcased his best form to defeat Dan Evans in the previous round. Fritz has been pushed to five sets in each of his matches, while Alcaraz overcame a five-set thriller in his opener before winning in routine fashion.

However, not all top seeds were as fortunate. Alexander Zverev, Jack Draper, Lorenzo Musetti, Holger Rune, and Daniil Medvedev all fell in the early rounds. On the women’s side, only Aryna Sabalenka, Madison Keys, Mirra Andreeva, Iga Swiatek, and Emma Navarro managed to reach the third round from the top 10 seeds.

Sabalenka, Andreeva, and Navarro are yet to drop a set, while Keys and Swiatek were pushed to three sets in their matches. The tournament has been marked by unexpected results, with second seed Coco Gauff, third seed Jessica Pegula, fifth seed Zheng Qinwen, and ninth seed Paula Badosa all suffering early exits.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time such a mass exodus of top seeds has occurred at Wimbledon. In 2018, four of the top five women’s seeds were eliminated by the end of the second round. Aryna Sabalenka now finds herself in a similar position, aiming to outdo her predecessors and advance further in the tournament.

As the excitement and drama continue to unfold at Wimbledon 2025, fans can expect more surprises and upsets in the days to come. Stay tuned for more thrilling action on the grass courts of the prestigious Grand Slam event.
