The second round of the 2025 John Deere Classic has come to a close, with the tournament’s cut line set at 5-under. Unfortunately, some big names in the world of golf will not be advancing to the weekend rounds, including 13-time PGA Tour winner Jason Day.

The John Deere Classic teed off on Thursday, July 3, at TPC Deere Run. Last year’s champion, Davis Thompson, is also in the field this year and is currently in contention for the title, sitting at T2 on the provisional leaderboard after making the cut.

Here are five golfers who did not make the cut at TPC Deere Run this year:

  1. Jason Day
One-time major champion Jason Day made his 13th PGA Tour start of the season at the John Deere Classic. Despite scoring 2-under 140 after the first two rounds, he missed the cut by three strokes. This marks his second missed cut of the season, following his absence from the third round at the PGA Championship earlier in the year.

  2. Ben Griffin
Ben Griffin had a successful season, securing his maiden PGA Tour title at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and a second title at the Charles Schwab Challenge. However, he missed the cut at the John Deere Classic after finishing at 3-under 139, two strokes shy of the cut line.

  3. Michael Kim
In 2018, Michael Kim won the John Deere Classic by a significant margin. This year, however, his hopes of reclaiming the title were dashed after scoring 4-over in the second round, bringing his total to 3-under and missing the cut.

  4. Adam Hadwin
Adam Hadwin has struggled this season, with only one top-10 finish in 19 PGA Tour starts. His performance at the John Deere Classic saw him carding 2-over 144 after 36 holes, marking his sixth missed cut of the season.

  5. Tom Kim
Three-time PGA Tour winner Tom Kim, who last won a tournament in 2023, missed the cut by one stroke at the John Deere Classic after scoring 4-under 138. This marks his seventh missed cut of the season.

Despite the disappointment of missing the cut, these golfers will continue to strive for success in the upcoming tournaments on the PGA Tour. Fans can expect to see them back in action as they aim to bounce back from this setback and make their mark in the world of golf.
