Instagram Threads Faces Backlash Over New Direct Messages Feature

Instagram Threads recently introduced direct messages (DMs) as its most-requested feature, sparking a wave of criticism from users, particularly women, who are concerned about potential harassment. The addition of DMs has led to calls for an opt-out option to address these issues.

It is evident that the addition of DMs has stirred controversy among Threads users, with some feeling that their voices were not heard in the decision-making process. The lack of control over the feature and the absence of an opt-out option have left many feeling frustrated and powerless.

As Threads evolves and introduces new features, it is important for Meta to consider user feedback and ensure that the platform remains a safe and enjoyable space for all users. The impact of adding DMs without user consent serves as a reminder of the importance of balancing innovation with user preferences to maintain a positive user experience.
