CNN Anchor Pamela Brown Returns to Flood-Ravaged Camp Mystic

On Sunday, CNN anchor Pamela Brown returned to Camp Mystic, a youth retreat in Texas that was hit hard by flooding. Brown, who was a camper at the retreat as a child, delivered a heartfelt report on her personal connection to the camp.

“It’s surreal coming back here 30 years later,” Brown said. “I was a 10-year-old little camper here, full of so much hope and joy. It’s a magical place, and I remember the excitement and anticipation of coming to Camp Mystic.”

She went on to express her emotions and memories of the camp, reflecting on the joy and fun she experienced by the Guadalupe River. Brown recalled using an inflatable as a springboard into the river and searching for “dinosaur fossils” with her fellow campers.

“To think that same river is now the source of this devastation, it’s just hard to wrap my head around,” she said. “So much innocence has been lost, and my heart goes out to all the girls and families affected by the flooding. I can’t help but pray for their safety and hope that more are found alive.”

Brown also shared a photo of her old camp charm bracelet, which reads, “I ❤️ CAMP MYSTIC,” showcasing her love for the retreat.
