  • 🎧 Abbott has indicated that investigations into the flood response will likely commence later this week, coinciding with a special legislative session to address the disaster. While residents have criticized the lack of warning, no responsibility has been assigned yet. The Trump administration can now proceed with layoffs affecting hundreds of thousands of federal employees, following a Supreme Court ruling. This decision allows for workforce reductions at various government agencies, impacting around 20 departments.

  • 🎧 Notable agencies like the Department of Health and Human Services and the Treasury Department are among those affected. Layoff notices have already been issued, with legal challenges pending. The Department of Veterans Affairs, however, is exempt from large-scale layoffs due to ongoing staff reductions through other means.
