A Father’s Tragic End in Brooklyn
Tragedy struck in Brooklyn when Jahshyim Whitfield, a 27-year-old father of two, was gunned down on his way to pick up his 9-year-old daughter at a local beauty parlor. The incident occurred in Clinton Hill around 9:30 p.m., leaving Whitfield mortally wounded on the sidewalk.
Despite being rushed to Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, Whitfield was pronounced dead, leaving his family and community in shock.
Evelyn Whitefield, Whitfield’s grandmother, expressed her grief, saying, “My firstborn is gone. My son is gone. He donât call me grandma, he called me âMa.â He would rather come to my house than his own motherâs house. He liked grandmaâs cooking.”
Described as a devoted father, Whitfield worked as a security guard and cherished his two daughters, Ariana and Kay Lani. His family shared that he was on his way to pick up Ariana at the beauty parlor when the tragic shooting occurred.

Whitfield’s aunt described him as a great father who prioritized his family above all else. “He was a devoted father and while they took him, his daughter was spending his whole summer with him,” she shared.
The incident remains under investigation by the NYPD, with no motive or suspect identified yet. The loss of Whitfield has left his loved ones grappling with an unimaginable void, especially his young daughter, Ariana, whose life will forever be changed by the tragic event.
