Manny Pacquiao, at 46 years old, is gearing up for his boxing comeback in the headline event of PBC’s pay-per-view card on Prime Video. The Filipino legend will be challenging Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

According to a report by Sportico, Pacquiao has amassed a staggering $775 million since turning professional in 1995, making him the 23rd highest-paid athlete of all time. While the exact figures for his upcoming fight against Barrios have not been disclosed, Pacquiao is expected to earn between $5–10 million plus a share of the pay-per-view sales. On the other hand, Barrios is likely to take home somewhere between $500,000 and $1 million.

In his last professional bout against Yordenis Ugas for the WBA welterweight title in August 2021, Pacquiao pocketed around $5 million. However, his most lucrative payday came from his bout against Floyd Mayweather in May 2015. Despite losing to Mayweather via unanimous decision in a 12-round fight, Pacquiao reportedly earned over $120 million, while Mayweather raked in nearly $180 million.

Barrios, the current WBC welterweight champion, defended his title against Abel Ramos last year in a split decision draw on the undercard of the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson boxing event. Although the details of his earnings from that fight remain unknown, Barrios reportedly made $1.5 million in his fight against Gervonta Davis.

Speaking to The Ring in a recent interview, Pacquiao revealed his motivation for coming out of retirement after four years, stating, “I don’t need money. I need history. I’m excited and happy to be back. It’s nice to climb the mountain again. I still feel the excitement and dedication like I did before. I love fighting. I missed the training, the media, and promoting a fight, to be cheered by millions of fans.”

As the anticipation builds for the showdown between Pacquiao and Barrios, fans are eagerly awaiting to see if the boxing legend can add another historic chapter to his illustrious career. The fight is set to take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and will be available for fans to watch on Prime Video’s pay-per-view platform.
