A Tinley Park man, Essian Anthony McGinnis, has been extradited to Chicago and held without pretrial release for the murder of Angelo Seabrook. The incident took place on May 11 in the 7500 block of South Normal in Gresham. McGinnis faces a charge of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting.

According to prosecutors, McGinnis and Seabrook had an argument at a party earlier in the evening. Seabrook left but returned later that night. When he approached McGinnis, who was standing on the sidewalk with three others, an altercation ensued. Both men were armed, but Seabrook, a concealed-carry holder, did not draw his weapon. Witnesses confirmed that Seabrook did not make any threatening moves.

McGinnis allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot Seabrook twice in the chest. He then proceeded to unload the entire clip into Seabrook, firing a total of 16 shots. Seabrook was found with his gun still holstered, rendered inoperable by a bullet strike. McGinnis fled the scene with his girlfriend and their child.

During the drive home, McGinnis reportedly confessed to the shooting to his girlfriend. Phone data placed him near the crime scene at the time of the incident. McGinnis, who worked as a truck driver, was apprehended in Nebraska and brought back to Chicago for prosecution.

Cook County Judge Deidre Dyer approved the state’s detention petition, citing the severity of the alleged crime. The case highlights the tragic consequences of gun violence and the importance of responsible firearm use.
