Summer Heat Wave Continues Across the Nation

As the dog days of summer hold the nation in a fiery grip, a relentless heat dome is making daily life unbearably hot.

From the scorching pavements of the Deep South to the unprecedented humidity of the Midwest and Northeast, nearly 100 million Americans are facing “feels-like” temperatures exceeding 100 degrees.

Cities unaccustomed to such intense summers are struggling under desert-like conditions, with long-standing temperature records being broken.

Amidst the sweltering conditions, the burning question on everyone’s minds is not just “when will it end?” but “what comes next?”

The Old Farmer’s Almanac has released its fall 2025 forecast, hinting at what the upcoming season may bring.

For many, the prediction is bittersweet – the lingering heat of this summer is likely to continue well into the fall months.

According to the Almanac, much of the U.S. can expect a warmer-than-average fall, with the western half facing particularly steamy conditions.

“Your trip to the pumpkin patch might be a sweaty one this year,” warns The Old Farmer’s Almanac.

Areas like the Southeast and West can anticipate continued summer-like heat, while the Northeast and Appalachians may see cooler, drier conditions, potentially leading to vibrant fall foliage.

The Northeast is expected to showcase a colorful display of fall foliage due to cooler temperatures and below-average rainfall.

In terms of precipitation, below-average rainfall is predicted for much of the U.S., except for the High Plains and Pacific Northwest, where wetter conditions are expected.

The Almanac also warns of above-normal hurricane activity, with an increased number of named storms anticipated throughout the remainder of the hurricane season.
