A team of Little League baseball players from Venezuela has unfortunately been denied visas to enter the US, preventing them from competing in the Senior League World Series in South Carolina. This news was confirmed by officials on Friday.

Little League International stated that the Cacique Mara team was unable to secure the necessary visas for the tournament, even after traveling to Colombia two weeks prior. The team, representing Maracaibo, Venezuela, had earned their spot in the Senior League World Series after winning the Latin American Little League championship in Mexico on June 16.

Senior League Baseball had initially celebrated the Venezuelan team’s victory, expressing excitement for their participation in the upcoming tournament. However, the team’s dreams were shattered due to the visa complications.

Following the disappointing announcement, the Cacique Mara team criticized Little League officials for their failure to facilitate their travel to the US. The team expressed their frustration and disappointment at being unable to fulfill their dreams of competing on a global stage.

Despite the setback, Little League International announced that the team from Venezuela would be replaced by the Santa Maria de Aguayo Little League from Victoria, Mexico.

The Trump administration’s recent travel restrictions on certain countries, including Venezuela, may have played a role in the visa denial. President Trump emphasized the importance of national security in implementing these restrictions.

Despite the challenges faced by the Venezuelan team, the Senior League World Series is set to commence from July 26 to August 2. The US State Department did not provide any further comments on the situation.
