I must admit, I have never seen the first installment of “Happy Gilmore,” but that didn’t stop me from diving into “Happy Gilmore 2” on Netflix. As the movie began with the classic line, “My name is Happy Gilmore,” I quickly realized that this film was centered around hockey. Julie Bowen’s appearance immediately caught my attention, reminding me of her role in “30 Rock.” The presence of four young boys in Happy Gilmore’s life seemed like a handful, especially with the first recorded Adam Sandler scream making an appearance early on.

Watching Adam Sandler age in real time was a surreal experience, but the introduction of Chubbs and the unexpected death of Julie Bowen’s character added a layer of complexity to the storyline. Sunny Sandler’s cameo as Happy’s daughter was a pleasant surprise, reminiscent of her role in “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah.”

The star-studded cast, including Margaret Qualley, Eric Andre, and Carl Weathers, added depth to the film. Ben Stiller’s appearance brought back nostalgic memories, and the mention of Bad Bunny sparked curiosity. The intricate plot involving a new golf league and Shooter McGavin’s return kept me engaged, despite my initial lack of interest in the sport.

As the movie progressed, the emotional flashbacks to young Happy Gilmore tugged at my heartstrings. The climactic confrontation at Bob Barker’s grave and the heartwarming resolution left me feeling satisfied. The blend of comedy, drama, and sports elements made for an entertaining viewing experience.

While some moments felt predictable, such as Happy’s eventual triumph in the golf game, the overall message of family, redemption, and pursuing one’s dreams resonated with me. Adam Sandler’s charismatic performance and impeccable fashion sense added to the film’s charm.

In conclusion, “Happy Gilmore 2” may not have converted me into a golf enthusiast, but it certainly entertained me. As the credits rolled, I couldn’t help but appreciate Sandler’s unique storytelling style. Whether you’re a fan of the original film or a newcomer like me, “Happy Gilmore 2” is a delightful movie that showcases Sandler’s comedic genius. Never change, Sandler.
