Seth Meyers Shares Concerns About Future of Late-Night TV

Seth Meyers recently opened up about the uncertainties surrounding the future of his late-night talk show, “Late Night With Seth Meyers.” During an episode of “Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard,” Meyers expressed his concerns about the current state of the entertainment industry and how it may impact the longevity of evening talk shows.

When asked by Dax Shepard if he feared that his show could end abruptly, Meyers admitted, “I do. I mean, only because it is such a time we’re living in, as far as the entertainment industry. There is this weird thing that I feel like I shifted from fearing that I wouldn’t be good enough. And now my fear is weirdly more outside of my control, which is
just at some point, the ecosystem might not support [late-night].”

Despite his worries, Meyers emphasized the importance of focusing on his job and trusting his team to handle other challenges. He acknowledged that while he may have concerns about the future, he remains dedicated to delivering quality content to his audience.

When questioned about his financial stability in the event of his show’s cancellation, Meyers prioritized his mental well-being over monetary concerns. He shared his efforts to diversify his skill set and pursue other creative endeavors to ensure a sense of fulfillment beyond late-night television.

Meyers reflected on the challenges facing the late-night industry, particularly in the wake of Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show” cancellation. While the network attributed the decision to financial reasons, speculation arose about potential political influences given the pending merger between Paramount, CBS’ parent company, and Skydance.

As Meyers navigates the uncertainties of the entertainment landscape, he remains committed to evolving his career and exploring new opportunities beyond traditional late-night television. His candid reflections offer insight into the evolving nature of the industry and the importance of adaptability in the face of change.
