Marcus Morris‘s recent legal troubles involve allegations that he stole more than $250,000 from two prominent Las Vegas casinos, as reported by TMZ Sports.

Court documents reveal that the NBA player is accused of obtaining $115,000 from the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in May 2024 through fraudulent checks that ultimately bounced.

Just a month later, in June 2024, Morris allegedly repeated the scam at the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel and Casino, this time pocketing $150,000 through deceptive checks.

Two separate arrest warrants were issued for Morris earlier this year in connection to these accusations.

Following his arrest at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida, Morris has been in custody awaiting extradition.

During a court hearing, Morris’ lawyers argued for his release, claiming he is actively working to repay his debts in Nevada and that releasing him would facilitate the process.

However, the judge denied the request for bond, stating that Morris would only be released to Nevada authorities for extradition or if the arrest warrants were rescinded.

Morris attended the court hearing with a composed demeanor while his attorneys addressed the judge. His twin brother, former NBA champion Markieff Morris, was present in the courtroom.

The Morris brothers’ agent, Yony Noy, expressed disbelief at the situation on Sunday night, labeling it “Absolute insanity!” He has not provided further comments since then.

Morris last played in an NBA game in 2024.
