The highly anticipated “Hostel” TV series has officially found a home on Peacock, according to exclusive reports from Variety. The TV extension of the popular horror film franchise has been in development at the NBCUniversal streamer, with Paul Giamatti set to star and Eli Roth on board to write, direct, and executive produce the series. Chris Briggs and Mike Fleiss, who have produced all the “Hostel” films, will also serve as executive producers, with Fifth Season as the studio behind the project.

The plot details of the “Hostel” series are being kept under wraps, leaving fans eager to discover what terrifying twists and turns await them in this new adaptation. The franchise, known for its gruesome and suspenseful storyline, follows innocent tourists who are kidnapped by the Elite Hunting Club in Eastern Europe, where wealthy clients pay to torture and murder them. The first film was released in 2006, followed by a sequel in 2007 and a direct-to-video third installment in 2011.

Despite the controversial and graphic nature of the films, the “Hostel” franchise has been a commercial success, with the first two movies grossing nearly $120 million globally on relatively low production budgets. The series has garnered a loyal fan base and cemented itself as a staple in the horror genre.

Paul Giamatti, a seasoned actor with two Oscar nominations and multiple Golden Globe wins, is excited to take on a horror role in the “Hostel” series. Known for his versatile performances in both film and television, Giamatti expressed his interest in exploring the horror genre, citing “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” as one of his favorite films in the genre.
