The iconic Spelling Manor in Los Angeles has been sold once again, this time to former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and his wife, Wendy Schmidt, for a whopping $110 million. The news of the purchase was reported by the Wall Street Journal on Friday, marking a significant transaction in the luxury real estate market.

The Spelling Manor, originally built in the 1990s for TV producer Aaron Spelling and his wife Candy Spelling, boasts an impressive 14 bedrooms, 27 baths, and a massive 56,500 square feet of living space. The property is a true symbol of opulence and grandeur, with lavish amenities including a beauty salon with massage rooms and tanning beds, a bowling alley, and a wine cellar.

The Schmidts’ acquisition of the Spelling Manor comes after Petra Ecclestone, daughter of Formula One billionaire Bernie Ecclestone, sold the estate in 2019 for $120 million. Petra had purchased the property from Candy Spelling in 2011 for $85 million and invested heavily in remodeling the estate during her ownership.

It seems like the Schmidts are getting a steal at $110 million, considering the property’s storied history and luxurious features. The couple reportedly plans to use the Manor to host meetings and nonprofit events, adding it to their impressive portfolio of properties in Los Angeles, Montecito, London, Washington D.C., Miami Beach, New York City, San Francisco, and Nantucket Island.

Real estate agent Drew Fenton from Carolwood Estates facilitated the sale of the Spelling Manor, further solidifying the property’s status as a premier luxury estate in Los Angeles. The Schmidts’ acquisition of this iconic mansion is a testament to their taste for luxury and their commitment to owning some of the most prestigious properties in the world.
