Off-Duty Chicago Police Officer Shot at by Masked Gunmen in Morgan Park
Three masked gunmen attacked an off-duty Chicago police officer in Morgan Park on Sunday morning, as per initial reports received by CWBChicago.
Around 6:13 a.m., a 30-year-old police officer was in the 4800 block of South Bishop Street when a white sedan pulled up. Three masked assailants got out of the vehicle and began shooting at her. The officer fired back, according to CPD. The gunmen then escaped through an alley in their car, driven by a fourth individual.
The officer sustained a minor injury from shattered glass and was taken to a hospital for evaluation. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported.
Shortly after, Chicago firefighters were called to a car fire near 46th Street and Winchester Avenue, where they discovered a white four-door Lexus stolen from Indiana ablaze. Authorities indicated that it matched the description of the suspects’ vehicle.
