Former President Donald Trump criticized Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday for the high number of illegal immigrants living in the US who have been charged or convicted of homicide. During a town hall event in Warren, Michigan, Trump expressed shock at the federal data revealing that over 15,000 illegal immigrants have been involved in homicide cases. He specifically blamed Harris for the situation, calling her incompetent and referring to her as “Comrade Kamala Harris.”
The data, obtained by Rep. Tony Gonzales from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, showed that there are 662,566 noncitizens with criminal records in ICE’s national docket, including 13,099 convicted of homicide and 1,845 with pending homicide cases. ICE currently has 277 migrants in custody who have been convicted of homicide and 51 facing homicide charges, indicating that deportation is likely for these individuals.
Trump emphasized the need to address the issue of releasing these individuals into the country, labeling it as gross incompetence. He highlighted the importance of securing the border and preventing such incidents from occurring in the future. The former president also criticized Harris for her handling of the immigration crisis, particularly during her visit to the US-Mexico border.
During the town hall event, Trump also discussed his plans for the automobile industry, proposing the implementation of tariffs on Chinese automobiles manufactured in Mexico but intended for the US market. He argued that imposing heavy tariffs on these cars would boost American auto manufacturing and prevent the closure of domestic plants.
In his remarks, Trump highlighted the need for strong economic policies to protect American industries and prevent foreign competition from undermining local businesses. He reiterated his commitment to imposing tariffs on imported vehicles to safeguard the interests of American workers.
Towards the end of the town hall, Trump shifted back to criticizing Harris, describing her as someone who complains but fails to take action. He noted Harris’ visit to the border as the Democratic nominee for president, sarcastically remarking on the significance of her presence at the border.
Overall, Trump’s town hall in Michigan covered a range of topics, from immigration and border security to economic policies and trade tariffs. The former president’s remarks reflected his strong stance on protecting American interests and addressing key issues facing the country.
