The Earth Songs album, a compilation of exceptional music from the Eco-Anthem Competition, has been officially released. Musicians from all corners of the globe were invited to create songs that pay tribute to and safeguard our planet. The competition not only offered participants the chance to win up to £2,000 but also the opportunity to professionally record their tracks.

An esteemed panel of judges, including folk singer Sam Lee, peace activist Satish Kumar, singer-songwriter Molly Astley, and urban ecologist Herbert Girardet, had the daunting task of evaluating a diverse range of submissions. Instead of selecting clear-cut winners, the panel acknowledged the subjective nature of music and chose tracks based on their unique interpretation of what constitutes an eco-anthem.

The featured selections will be revealed weekly on major streaming platforms and include standout tracks such as “The Earth is Calling” by Baque Luar, an all-female and non-binary collective based in London, and “The Wise Goat,” a global collaboration by Echoes of Eden featuring artists from Zambia and Pakistan.

Professor Herbert Girardet, one of the competition judges, emphasized the variety in the definition of an eco-anthem, stating that each song showcased a profound reverence for the Earth and aimed to bridge the gap between humanity and the natural world.

Satish Kumar, editor emeritus of Resurgence & Ecologist magazine, expressed how these songs celebrate the Earth’s beauty and serve as a source of inspiration and comfort. He hopes that they will motivate people to unite in protecting the environment.

Proceeds from sales and streaming of the Earth Songs album will be shared equally with the artists, ensuring ongoing support for their artistic endeavors. The music industry holds immense power to shape values, incite action, and influence dreams, making initiatives like this crucial in raising awareness about environmental issues.

Artist Project Earth, the organization behind the competition, has a history of supporting ecological projects worldwide through music. By commissioning songs that shed light on the impacts of consumerism on ecosystems and highlight global crises, they aim to inspire positive change and instill hope for a better future.

Yasmin Dahnoun, the coordinator and communication officer for Artist Project Earth, Herbert Girardet, trustee of the Resurgence Trust, and Satish Kumar, chair of the management team of the Resurgence Trust, are key figures involved in this meaningful initiative.
