The summer of “Brat” may have come to an end, but its spirit lives on in a hilarious skit on the season opener of “Saturday Night Live.” Bowen Yang took on the persona of Charli XCX to host a fictional show called “The Talk Talk Show,” a clever nod to one of the pop star’s hit songs.

In this comedic segment, Yang welcomed a faux version of Australian singer Troye Sivan, portrayed by Sarah Sherman. As Sherman revealed fake washboard abs under her shirt, the banter between the two characters was both witty and absurd.

The show continued with Yang categorizing recent events as either “brat or nat,” with topics ranging from Hunter Biden’s laptop to Barron Trump attending NYU. The segment also featured guest appearances from “queer nightlife icon” Susanne Bartsch (played by Jean Smart) and CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins (portrayed by Chloe Fineman).

Political questions were directed towards Smart’s character, while Fineman’s portrayal of the CNN anchor led to more lighthearted queries like, “Have you ever done ketamine?” The skit took a hilarious turn when U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett from Texas, played by Ego Nwodim, shared her unfiltered opinions on various subjects.

“Brat,” Charli XCX’s latest album, was released to critical acclaim earlier this year and has since become a cultural phenomenon. Known for its hyperpop-influenced sound and vibrant aesthetic, the album dominated the music scene and even inspired TikTok trends and memes.

Charli XCX recently brought the “Brat” experience to New York City with a high-energy performance at Madison Square Garden, joined by Troye Sivan, Lorde, and Addison Rae. Fans can look forward to a remix album of “Brat” set to be released on October 11.

As “Saturday Night Live” celebrates its 50th season, the iconic sketch comedy show continues to entertain audiences with its unique blend of humor and satire. With host Jean Smart and musical guest Jelly Roll leading the way, the show’s milestone anniversary promises to be a memorable one.

Don’t miss “Saturday Night Live” as it airs on NBC at 11:30 p.m. ET and streams on Peacock, delivering laughs and entertainment for generations to come.
