United Airlines experienced a major disruption on Wednesday night, leading to grounded flights at Denver International Airport and other key American airports due to a “technology issue,” as confirmed by airline officials.

Flights departing from DIA to Newark International Airport in New Jersey, George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Chicago O’Hare International Airport, and San Francisco International Airport were all placed on a ground stop for several hours, as reported by the Federal Aviation Administration.

By 8:15 p.m., United flights to Houston and Chicago were still affected by the ground stop in Denver, according to the FAA.

United officials issued a statement saying, “Due to a technology issue, we are holding United mainline flights at their departure airports. We expect additional flight delays this evening as we work through this issue. Safety is our top priority, and we’ll work with our customers to ensure they reach their destinations.”

At 8:15 p.m., there were 275 delays and 12 canceled United flights at DIA, according to FlightAware.
