Trump’s Controversial Plan: Homeless Out, Criminals In

In a bold proclamation shared on Truth Social, President Donald Trump has called for the expulsion of homeless individuals from Washington, D.C., while reassuring criminals that they are welcome to stay—albeit with the caveat of imminent incarceration. This dramatic announcement comes just a day after he pledged to transform D.C. into “one of the safest cities” in America.

Trump asserted that accommodations would be provided for the homeless, but, in a twist of irony, they would be located “FAR from the Capital.” He stated, “We’re having a News Conference tomorrow in the White House. I’m going to make our Capital safer and more beautiful than it ever was before. The Homeless have to move out, IMMEDIATELY. We will give you places to stay, but FAR from the Capital.”

In contrast, Trump declared, “The Criminals, you don’t have to move out. We’re going to put you in jail where you belong. It’s all going to happen very fast, just like the Border. We went from millions pouring in to ZERO in the last few months. This will be easier — Be prepared! There will be no ‘MR. NICE GUY.’ We want our Capital BACK. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

In a proactive move, Trump has already mobilized federal law enforcement to patrol the streets of the nation’s capital throughout the upcoming week.

Trump Vows That DC Will Soon Be One of America’s ‘Safest Cities’

On Saturday, the president confirmed that a press conference would take place on Monday to address these pressing issues.

Trump articulated his vision, stating:

“On Monday, a Press Conference will be held at the White House which will, essentially, stop violent crime in Washington, D.C. It has become one of the most dangerous cities anywhere in the World. It will soon be one of the safest!!! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DJT”

The Hill reports:

The initiative is spearheaded by the U.S. Park Police, enlisting support from multiple agencies including the FBI, Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and divisions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), among others, according to the White House.

On Friday, marking the second day of patrols, Trump expanded the force to include officers from the U.S. Secret Service and U.S. Marshals Service. Over 120 officers were deployed to high-traffic areas, ensuring a highly visible presence, as reported by a White House official. Initial reports indicated arrests for possession of stolen firearms and illegal drugs on the first night of the operation.

Trump has previously hinted at a federal takeover of D.C., a measure that would necessitate congressional approval. Notably, in 2023, the District’s homicide rate reached a staggering 40.9 per 100,000 residents, ranking it as one of the most dangerous cities in the U.S. Furthermore, overall crime rates have consistently exceeded the national average in recent years.

The Hill also highlights that recent calls for a takeover were amplified following an attack on a former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) official, colloquially known as ‘Big Balls,’ by a group of teenagers. Two 15-year-olds were apprehended and charged with attempted carjacking in connection to the incident.

Trump commented on the attack, stating, “They are not afraid of Law Enforcement because they know nothing ever happens to them, but it’s going to happen now!” He further advocated for legal reforms to prosecute minors as adults, suggesting stricter penalties starting at age 14.
