Argentine Editor María Astrauskas to Make Directorial Debut with “Patrimony”
Tarea Fina, known for producing acclaimed films like “Las Acacias” and “The Sleepwalkers,” has joined forces with Argentine editor María Astrauskas for her directorial debut, “Patrimony” (“Patrimonio”). Astrauskas also wrote the screenplay for the film.
“Patrimony” was recently announced as one of the standout projects at the Europe-Latin America Co-Production Forum during the San Sebastián Festival.
Astrauskas, who previously worked as an editor on the award-winning film “Las Acacias,” is collaborating with producer Pablo Giorgelli, her longtime partner, on “Patrimony.” The film delves into the story of Toni, a female truck driver in Tandil, Argentina, who uncovers a significant tax debt linked to her deceased father.
As Toni navigates the complexities of bureaucracy and her own past, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery and reconnection.
“Patrimony” has already garnered attention in the industry, winning multiple awards at FICPBA for its compelling storyline and character development.
With principal photography scheduled for October 2026 in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, “Patrimony” promises to be a poignant exploration of identity and heritage.
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project as it unfolds at the 73rd San Sebastián Film Festival.
