A grieving mother is praising President Donald Trump for his efforts to improve public safety in Washington, D.C. after losing her 21-year-old son to a senseless shooting.

President Trump recently announced plans to take control of public safety in Washington, D.C., activating the District of Columbia National Guard and seizing control of the Metropolitan Police Department.

Tamara Tarpinian-Jachym, whose son Eric was a congressional intern killed in a drive-by shooting in June, expressed her support for the president’s initiative to make the city safe again.

She mentioned that when President Trump referenced her son and other victims of violent crime in his remarks, she felt hopeful that changes would be made to ensure the safety of those visiting or working in D.C.

Tamara revealed that despite the presence of surveillance cameras at the scene of the shooting, the footage was grainy, and even cabbies were fearful of the area where her son’s body was found. No arrests have been made in Eric’s case.

In a letter sent to Eric’s parents in July, President Trump expressed his condolences and acknowledged Eric’s kindness, faithfulness, and commitment to the country. He also mentioned how proud Congressman Estes was to have Eric represent his office.

Tamara expressed her frustration over the lack of answers regarding Eric’s death, hoping that the perpetrator would be caught and brought to justice. She praised Judge Jeanine Pirro, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, for her dedication to seeking justice for victims.

She emphasized the importance of people feeling safe while walking around the city and highlighted the need for awareness about the dangers in D.C., especially for interns from other parts of the country who may not be familiar with the city’s risks.

Overall, Tamara’s story sheds light on the impact of violent crime and the importance of efforts to improve public safety in Washington, D.C., ensuring that families like hers do not have to endure the pain of losing a loved one to senseless violence.
