Since his standout sophomore London Fashion Week show for spring ’25, Luke Derrick has been diligently focused on the art of selling and meeting with buyers. Known for his meticulous approach to design, Derrick is all about the finer details that make his pieces truly exceptional. “I feel there’s the external perception of men’s fashion in London, where there’s traditional Savile Row and Dunhill over there,” he explained, “and then you’ve got really subversive things over there. And I’m in this funny gray space in between.”

It’s in this unique space that Derrick caters to men who value quality and style without compromising on comfort or modernity. His latest collection is a testament to his ability to navigate the complexities of summer dressing in the city. “The challenge is that you’re dealing with the need for lightness,” Derrick noted. “But often with light tailoring comes the fuss of pressing—or you look like a wrinkly bag quite quickly.”

To address this challenge, Derrick incorporated innovative Japanese fabrics into his designs, some of which are coated with silicone and machine washable. For example, he introduced a “broken” stripe on trousers that strikes a balance between formal and casual, as well as a versatile fusion piece that combines elements of a dress shirt and a jacket. These pieces are not only stylish but also practical, designed to withstand the demands of a modern lifestyle.

As a young, independent designer, Derrick is navigating a constantly evolving industry while staying true to his vision. “It gave us the opportunity, I felt, to actually just focus a bit on the clothes, and capture the storytelling of who this guy is,” he shared. “But what’s exciting is, when we do have a stockist (meaning clients in Japan and America) it really sells when it arrives.”
