Introducing UConn’s MFA Studio Art Class of 2028

Get to know the talented individuals who make up the University of Connecticut’s MFA Studio Art Class of 2028. This diverse group of artists works in a wide range of mediums and styles, showcasing their unique perspectives and creative visions.

Meet the Artists:

McKayla Mae Bensheimer is a printmaker and sculptor with a BFA in Sculpture from Herron School of Art and Design. Her work delves into the stories of humanity, capturing contemporary life through figural portraiture and sculpture.

Tayebeh (Bahar) Ejtemaei is an Iranian painter exploring themes of memory, identity, and time through abstract and figurative visual language. Her artwork blends Eastern and Western influences, revealing traces of human presence and emotions.

Kate Greenwell is a painter, printmaker, and collage artist who strips language from its context to create thought-provoking compositions. Her recent work focuses on her body as a canvas for self-expression, using tattoos as a form of self-portraiture.

Alex Heard creates immersive experiences through wearable objects, performance, and installation. His whimsical world of plush characters explores themes of failure, anxiety, and shame, offering a softer perspective on reality.

Avery Nielsen-Webb is a photographer inspired by the intersection of industrial development and nature. His work reflects his deep connection to the wilderness and his exploration of humanity’s evolving relationship with the environment.

About UConn’s MFA Studio Art Program:

The University of Connecticut’s MFA Studio Art program offers a fully funded three-year graduate experience in painting/drawing, photography/video, printmaking, and sculpture/ceramics. The program boasts an international faculty, top-notch facilities, and a prime location in Southern New England.
