In a tragic event unfolding this Monday morning, a 13-year-old boy sustained a serious head injury after being shot outside a Dunkin’ Donuts in Queens, leaving his survival in jeopardy, according to law enforcement officials.

The incident occurred around 8:20 a.m. in front of the store located at the intersection of Linden and Springfield boulevards in Cambria Heights, as the boy was caught in the crossfire of an unknown assailant.

The shooter is described as a male dressed in a white hoodie and white sneakers, and was seen fleeing the scene with a black backpack in tow, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

Medical personnel swiftly transported the boy to Cohen Children’s Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition as of late morning. The motives behind this senseless act have yet to be determined, leaving a community in shock.

While police have not confirmed whether the boy was on his way to school at the time of the shooting, it is noteworthy that several educational institutions, including PS/MS 147 Ronald McNair, Benjamin Franklin High School, and PS 176 Cambria Heights, are located just a short distance from the scene.
