In a shocking turn of events, former NFL player Eric Johnson has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for his involvement in human trafficking and pimping activities linked to a notorious gang known as LOTTO.

Johnson, who played as a defensive back in the NFL for six seasons including a notable appearance in the 2003 Super Bowl, is among nine individuals sentenced related to the gang, which is connected to national organizations such as the Crips and Gangster Disciples. LOTTO is an acronym that stands for the “Last One To Take Over Gang.”

Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr emphasized, “This is a criminal network that trafficked a child to make money, and we went after all those involved – taking down the gang’s leaders, associates, and the entire LOTTO operation.”

“We’re fighting every day to protect our most vulnerable Georgians, and we won’t rest until every predator and violent criminal is held accountable,” Carr added.

Now 49 years old, Johnson had stints with the Oakland Raiders, Atlanta Falcons, and Arizona Cardinals, wrapping up his NFL career in 2005.

In 2023, Johnson and his eight co-defendants were indicted following an extensive investigation that began after a shooting involving fellow gang members Sean Harvey and Sean Curry.

The gang reportedly coerced women into submission using threats of violence, exploiting them for financial gain which helped fund the gang’s operations and purchase weapons.

Having pleaded guilty to charges of gang involvement, racketeering, and pimping, Johnson received a 20-year sentence, which requires him to serve the first decade in prison followed by a period of strict probation.
