A tragic family dispute stemming from unresolved parking fines and illegal marijuana transactions culminated in a deadly incident on the city’s West Side last summer, authorities have reported while detailing their case against an Elgin resident.
Osceola Little, aged 39, faces charges of first-degree murder following the death of his younger sibling, Robert Little, who was 33, during a violent altercation that took place in the 4800 block of West West End on August 19, 2024.
According to a detention filing, the conflict between the brothers escalated as Osceola repeatedly borrowed Robert’s vehicle, accumulating traffic and parking fines that he failed to settle. Robert eventually concluded that his brother owed him over $1,200 due to these fines. The brothers also had disputes regarding marijuana that Osceola purportedly supplied to Robert for sale but never compensated him for.
By June 2024, tensions peaked dramatically.
Osceola sent several threatening texts to Robert, expressing intentions to shoot him, and he extended similar threats to Robert’s wife, as noted in the detention filing. In a provocative move the following month, Osceola allegedly shared a photograph of himself brandishing what prosecutors described as a “machine gun-style pistol,” making hints pertaining to his brother.
