On Wednesday, a Senate hearing was convened to delve into the recent departures of prominent leaders from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). However, it instead seized attention for raising many new questions.

Former CDC Director Susan Monarez and former Chief Medical Officer Debra Houry recounted how Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. quelled the agency’s voice, promoted political appointments, and supported initiatives that lack scientific validity. They emphasized that this shift contradicts his earlier promises of “radical transparency” and “gold-standard” science, potentially endangering public health in the United States.

Additionally, they outlined Kennedy’s imminent strategies, which might involve alterations to the childhood vaccination schedule and further politicization of agencies like the CDC to align with his personal beliefs and agenda. The former officials’ accounts have been vigorously challenged by Kennedy and the Department of Health and Human Services.
