Sean “Diddy” Combs is currently rallying a formidable legal team to implore a judge for leniency in his sentencing amid a serious criminal case.
Headed by notable attorneys Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos, Diddy’s defense has submitted a detailed memorandum aimed at securing a more lenient punishment.
The defense asserts that the sentencing guidelines for Diddy’s conviction, stemming from violations of the Mann Act, suggest a prison term ranging from 6 to 12 months, reflecting the actual severity of his offenses as determined during his recent trial in New York City.
During the trial, the prosecution established that Diddy had breached the Mann Act by transporting male escorts across state lines for what can only be described as excessive rendezvous, which he notably recorded in hotel rooms with his former partners.
However, Diddy emphasizes the fact that he has already spent 13 months in challenging conditions at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center since his arrest in September 2024.
The music mogul proudly claims he has embraced sobriety after a quarter-century of substance use, asserting that he has positively influenced his fellow inmates through shared rehabilitation initiatives. Furthermore, he boasts an “incident-free” record during his detention and insists on his previously clean slate with the law.
Diddy is acutely aware of the considerable fallout from his legal troubles, acknowledging the harm to his reputation, which has adversely affected his business interests and family welfare. He stresses his responsibilities toward his seven children and elderly mother, who depend on his guidance and support.
In light of these circumstances, Diddy is requesting a sentence of 14 months, supplemented by supervised release that necessitates drug rehabilitation and therapeutic counseling.
Diddy is scheduled for sentencing on October 3 after a jury found him guilty in July on two federal charges related to prostitution. He notably evaded conviction on more severe indictments of racketeering and sex trafficking but still faces a potential imprisonment of 20 years.
The prosecution recommends a sentencing range of 51 to 63 months, while Diddy’s attorneys are advocating for a significantly lesser term of 21 to 27 months.
