Apple TV+ has announced a delay in the release of “The Savant,” an upcoming thriller series featuring Jessica Chastain in a lead role as an investigator tackling the issue of domestic extremism. This postponement comes in the wake of the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
In an official statement, Apple remarked, “After careful consideration, we have made the decision to postpone ‘The Savant.’ We value your understanding and are eager to share the series at a later time.”
The plot of the series centers around an undercover investigator, referred to as ‘The Savant,’ who delves into online hate groups in a bid to prevent domestic extremists from executing violent acts. Jessica Chastain portrays Jodi Goodwin, a military veteran employed by the Anti-Hate Alliance. Within her role, she navigates 4Chan-like message boards anonymously, attempting to uncover potential terrorists. Early on in the narrative, while masquerading as a white nationalist, she uncovers a conspiracy involving a major domestic attack and endeavors to infiltrate the group to avert the disaster.
“The Savant” draws its inspiration from a 2019 Cosmopolitan article titled, “Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?”
