Following closely on the heels of the recent iPhone Air launch, it seems that Motorola is set to enter the ultra-slim smartphone market with their upcoming Edge 70 handset.

This exciting development comes from renowned leaker Evan Blass, who recently took to X to unveil what appears to be marketing material for the anticipated Motorola Edge 70. The visuals highlight a strikingly slim profile and a captivating green color, accentuated with distinct camera lens detailing.

The advertisement portrays the phone as “impossibly thin,” drawing attention to Motorola’s refreshed approach with their longstanding slogan, “What’s your edge?” This new identity follows the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, which successfully embraced an ultra-svelte design.

As of now, detailed specifications for the Edge 70 remain scarce. However, it’s noticeable that Motorola continues its collaboration with Pantone, as evidenced by one of their color strips partially visible at the bottom of the device, suggesting that additional color options may be forthcoming.

Currently, there is also no information about any additional models being launched alongside the standard Edge 70. For context, the prior year’s Motorola Edge 60 lineup included the high-end Edge 60 Pro, the standard Edge 60, and the more budget-friendly Edge 60 Fusion.

Motorola’s Edge series typically features an ‘Ultra’ variant, but this latest leak seems to suggest that no Edge 60 Ultra will be making its way to market, indicating that Motorola’s focus may have shifted entirely to the new Edge 70 line.

While the standard Motorola Edge 60 boasts a commendable feature set, it did encounter some HDR performance issues, whereas the pricier Edge 60 Pro emerged as one of the standout mid-range phones of the year.

Much like its potential successor, the 60 Pro, which exhibited a sleek design with an 8.2mm profile, the Edge 70 aims to challenge competitors, albeit with a design featuring a remarkable 5.8mm profile, pushing it closer to the 5.6mm thickness of the iPhone Air and the 5.7mm of the Galaxy S25 Edge.

With the recent releases from Samsung and Apple, it’s uncertain yet whether this trend of ultra-thin devices will be embraced by consumers, as there are inherent trade-offs typically associated with building such slim models. For example, the iPhone Air prioritizes a slimmer build at the cost of battery size when compared to the more affordable iPhone 17.

Nonetheless, introducing another competitor into the mix can only inspire innovation within the industry. Stay tuned for more updates on the Motorola Edge 70 as more information becomes available.
