The lawmakers sent a letter to Nexstar’s Chair and CEO:

Your assertion that Mr. Kimmel’s comments were ‘deeply insensitive at a critical moment for our country’ stands as a poor representation of his actual remarks and reflects an alarming pattern of embracing Administration-fueled censorship against dissenting narratives. As major players in the U.S. media landscape, protecting free speech and maintaining journalistic integrity should be paramount—not merely appeasing the whims of the current President.
Rep. Garcia elaborated on the situation involving FCC Chair Brendan Carr during a segment on MSNBC, underscoring the gravity of the matter:
Democratic representatives are not off the mark; what we are witnessing is the collusion of two corporate titans who control numerous local TV stations, conspiring with the Trump administration to stifle critics.
