Artist Stéphanie Kilgast captivates viewers with her striking yet thought-provoking creations, envisioning a world where humans are absent, and nature thrives unchecked. “In my artwork, humanity is absent, leaving behind its legacy of objects, buildings, and trash,” she explains, setting the stage for a narrative of renewal and transformation.

“Flora and fauna are taking over. Animals, mushrooms, lichens, plants, and corals are inheriting every available space, thus crafting new habitats. This delicate dance of symbiosis between man-made objects and the vibrant growth around them mirrors the harmony and reverence that humanity has long overlooked. In my work, I intend to express hope, joy, and the resplendent beauty of nature through a riot of color.”

Kilgast’s whimsical and colorful post-apocalyptic sculptures frequently incorporate items we usually discard, like aluminum cans and glass bottles. Moreover, her creations breathe new life into obsolete technologies—think VHS tapes, portable CD players, and alarm clocks—which have become relics in our smartphone-obsessed age.

Additionally, Kilgast has announced an exciting new book titled Utopia. This publication chronicles a decade of her artistic journey, uniting sculptures, paintings, and sketchbook pages, complemented by insightful essays and a comprehensive catalogue of her works.

Utopia will go to print once at least 150 copies are pre-ordered by October 3. Secure your copy today via Dashbook. Orders are expected to ship in December. Dive deeper into Kilgast’s artistic world through her website and Instagram.
