OnePlus has officially unveiled its highly-anticipated flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 15, which boasts the incredible power of the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, touted as the most powerful Android processor to date.
This announcement follows Qualcomm’s official unveiling of the Snapdragon chipset during their ongoing event in Hawaii, which promises a staggering two-generation advancement in mobile performance.
Notably, Xiaomi already confirmed that its upcoming Xiaomi 17 series will incorporate the Elite Gen 5 chipset, while Samsung has indicated that at least some of their upcoming Galaxy S26 devices will also feature this upgraded technology.
Qualcomm’s Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Handsets, Chris Patrick, emphasized the importance of this chipset, stating, “As the world’s fastest mobile CPU, combined with our most advanced GPU and NPU, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 offers remarkable speed, sustained gaming capabilities, intelligent photography features, and all-day efficiency—precisely what OnePlus enthusiasts expect.”

Details on the OnePlus 15 remain scarce; however, the company promises to roll out more information in the forthcoming weeks.
Fortunately, thanks to an unusual unveiling at a Qualcomm event for the Chinese press, we have some insights into the phone’s design.
The OnePlus 15 breaks from the circular camera bump style of its predecessor, the OnePlus 13, adopting a square camera layout reminiscent of Apple’s earlier designs before the latest iPhone 17 Pro models.
OnePlus also disclosed in a Weibo post that the display refresh rate will increase from 120Hz to an impressive 165Hz, enhancing the user experience, particularly for gaming.
This model marks the first flagship from OnePlus developed independently, with the recent termination of their collaboration with camera brand Hasselblad disclosed a few weeks ago.
In lieu of the Hasselblad partnership, OnePlus has announced the integration of the new DetailMax image engine, designed specifically to optimize photography results, ensuring each photo you take is the best it can be.
Considering the OnePlus 13 is already recognized as one of the leading smartphones of this year, anticipation is high for its successor. Stay tuned for more news regarding the OnePlus 15 as updates become available.
